OUR APPROACH TO GOD
Prelude "Ave Verum" C.
Gounod
Introit "Only Believe"
R. Rader
Our help is in the name of the
Lord
WHO MADE HEAVEN AND EARTH!
Welcome
Call to Worship: Ps 19:1-6
The heavens are telling the glory
of God;
AND THE FIRMAMENT PROCLAIMS
HIS HANDIWORK.
Day to day pours forth speech
AND NIGHT TO NIGHT DECLARES KNOWLEDGE.
There is no speech, nor are there
words;
THEIR VOICE IS NOT HEARD;
Yet their voice goes out through
all the earth,
AND THE WORDS TO THE END OF
THE WORLD.
In the heavens God has set a tent
for the sun,
WHICH COMES OUT LIKE A
BRIDEGROOM FROM HIS WEDDING CANOPY,
And with strength runs its course
with joy.
ITS RISING IS FROM THE END OF
THE HEAVENS
And its circuit to the end of
them;
AND NOTHING IS HIDDEN FROM ITS
HEAT!
*Hymn 416 "Come, Ye
Disconsolate"
Let us be before our God in
silence.
Unison Prayer: Psalm 28
TO YOU, LORD, I CALL; MY ROCK,
DO NOT REFUSE TO HEAR ME...HEAR
THE VOICE OF MY SUPPLICATION, AS I
CRY TO YOU FOR HELP, AS I LIFT MY
HANDS TOWARD YOUR MOST HOLY SANCTUARY.
Kyrie (sung)
LORD HAVE MERCY UPON US.
CHRIST HAVE MERCY UPON US.
LORD HAVE MERCY UPON US.
A Word of Assurance: Jeremiah 31: 38-40
The Summary of the Law (Mk
12:29-31)
This is the first commandment:
HEAR O ISRAEL, THE LORD OUR
GOD, THE LORD IS ONE!
THEREFORE YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, WITH ALL YOUR MIND, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH.
This is the second commandment:
YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.
There is no greater commandment
than these.
