Welcome
Call
to Worship: Rev. 7: 2-14, adapted
I, John, saw another angel come up from the East, holding the seal of
the living God. I had a vision of a great multitude, which no one could
count, from every nation, race, people and tongue. They stood before
the throne and before the Lamb, wearing white robes and holding palm
branches in their hands. They cried out:
SALVATION COMES FROM OUR GOD, WHO IS SEATED ON THE THRONE, AND
FROM THE LAMB!
All the angels stood around the throne and around the elders
and the four living creatures. They prostrated themselves before the
throne, worshiped God and exclaimed:
AMEN! BLESSING AND GLORY, WISDOM AND THANKSGIVING, HONOR,
POWER, AND MIGHT BE TO OUR GOD FOREVER AND EVER, AMEN!
Then one of the elders asked: "Who are these wearing white
robes and where did they come from?"
THESE ARE THE ONES WHO HAVE SURVIVED THE TIME OF GREAT
DISTRESS; THEY HAVE WASHED THEIR ROBES AND MADE THEM WHITE IN THE BLOOD
OF THE LAMB!
*Hymn "When the Saints, Go Marching In"
1. Oh, when the saints go marching in, (2x)
Oh, Lord I want to be in that number,
When the saints go marching in.
2. Oh, when that light begins to shine...
Let us be before our
God in silence.
Unison Prayer: Psalm 8
WHEN I LOOK AT YOUR HEAVENS, THE WORK OF YOUR FINGERS, THE
MOON AND THE STARS THAT YOU HAVE ESTABLISHED; WHAT ARE WE HUMANS THAT
YOU ARE MINDFUL OF US? WHO ARE WE MORTALS THAT YOU CARE FOR US? YET YOU
HAVE MADE US LITTLE LOWER THAN DIVINE BEINGS AND CROWNED US WITH GLORY
AND HONOR. YOU HAVE GIVEN US DOMINION OVER THE WORKS OF YOUR HANDS...O
LORD, OUR SOVEREIGN, HOW MAJESTIC IS YOUR NAME IN ALL THE EARTH!
Kyrie (sung)
LORD, HAVE MERCY
ON US.
CHRIST, HAVE MERCY ON US.
LORD, HAVE MERCY ON US.
A Word of Assurance: Psalm
46:1-7
The Summary of the
Law (Mk 12: 29-31)
This is the first commandment:
HEAR O ISRAEL,
THE LORD OUR GOD,
THE LORD IS ONE!
THEREFORE YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD
WITH ALL YOUR HEART,
WITH ALL YOUR SOUL,
WITH ALL YOUR MIND,
AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH.
This is the second
commandment:
YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS
YOURSELF.
There is no greater
commandment than these.
