A Mid Winter Communion
Epiphany 4C

The flowers gracing the sanctuary are given to the glory of God and in loving memory of our beloved husband, father & grandfather, Albert Hollenga by the Hollenga Family.

We invite you to maintain a spirit of silence as the prelude begins our service.

OUR APPROACH TO GOD
Prelude
Introit "Only Believe" P. Rader

Welcome

Call to Worship: Ps 50:1, Isaiah 2:21; Ps 96
The mighty one, God the Lord,
SPEAKS AND SUMMONS THE EARTH
In the final days the temple will tower about the highest hills and mountains,
ALL NATIONS WILL STREAM TOWARD IT.
Tell the nations, "The Lord rules!"
LET HEAVEN AND EARTH BE GLAD!
Let sea and sea creatures roar,
LET THE FIELD AND ITS BEASTS EXULT!

*Hymn “Love Divine, All Love's Excelling” C. Wesley

Let us be before our God in silence.

Unison Prayer:  Ps 25
TO YOU, O LORD, I LIFT UP MY SOUL. MAKE ME TO KNOW YOUR WAYS, O LORD; TEACH ME YOUR PATHS. LEAD ME IN YOUR TRUTH, AND TEACH ME, FOR YOU ARE THE GOD OF MY SALVATION...BE MINDFUL OF YOUR MERCY, O LORD, AND OF YOUR STEADFAST LOVE...DO NOT REMEMBER THE SINS OF MY YOUTH. ACCORDING TO YOUR STEADFAST LOVE, REMEMBER ME.

Kyrie (sung)

LORD, HAVE MERCY ON US.
CHRIST, HAVE MERCY ON US.
LORD, HAVE MERCY ON US.

A Word of Assurance: Isaiah 25:6-10a

The Summary of God's Law (Mk 12:29b-31)
This is the first commandment:
HEAR O ISRAEL,
THE LORD OUR GOD,
THE LORD IS ONE!
THEREFORE YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD
WITH ALL YOUR HEART,
WITH ALL YOUR SOUL,
WITH ALL YOUR MIND,
AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH.

This is the second commandment:
YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.
There is no greater commandment than these.
