Friend of Project Hospitality dies
Richard E. Diamond, publisher of the Staten Island Advance and a friend of the poor through Project Hospitality, died Thursday, February 12th at his home in Staten Island of cancer. He was 71 years old. The Rev. Terry Troia attended the funeral service this morning at the Temple Israel Reformed Congregation in Randall Manor, Staten Island and was not available to lead preach here at New Utrecht today. Fr. Jack Ryan preached instead.

Diamond was a recipient of two awards from Project Hospitality: the Rabbi Marcus Kramer Humanitarian Award in 1992 and the Eleanor Proske Award for Distinguished Service to the Poor in 2000.
