Communion Sunday
Lent 2C
The
flowers gracing the
altar are given to the glory of God and in memory of Mary and Vito
Giannini, parents and grandparents of Rose and Susan. We also
acknowledge the one year anniversary of the death of Albert Hollenga,
our great friend.
The Eucharist this morning is offered in memory of Albert Hollenga.
We
invite you to maintain a spirit of silence as the prelude begins our
service.
OUR
APPROACH TO GOD
Prelude
Introit "Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus"
Welcome
Call
to Worship: Psalm 22:22, 23
I will tell of your
name to my brothers and sisters;
IN THE MIDST OF THE CONGREGATION WE WILL PRAISE YOU!
You who fear the Lord: praise God!
ALL YOU OFFSPRING OF JACOB, GLORIFY GOD! STAND IN AWE OF GOD,
ALL YOU OFFSPRING OF ISRAEL!
*Hymn
insert "O God of Vision"
Let
us be before our God in
silence.
Opening
Prayer: Psalm 22
O LORD, DO NOT BE FAR AWAY. COME
QUICKLY TO MY AID! I AM POURED OUT LIKE WATER, ALL MY BONES ARE OUT OF
JOINT. MY HEART IS LIKE WAX; IT IS MELTED WITHIN MY BREAST. DELIVER MY
SOUL...SAVE ME FROM THE MOUTH OF THE LION.
Kyrie (sung)
LORD, HAVE MERCY ON US.
CHRIST, HAVE MERCY ON US.
LORD, HAVE MERCY ON US.
A Word of
Assurance: Luke
13:29-30
The
Summary of God's
Law (Mk 12:29b-31)
This is the
first commandment:
HEAR O
ISRAEL,
THE LORD OUR GOD,
THE LORD IS ONE!
THEREFORE YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD
WITH ALL YOUR HEART,
WITH ALL YOUR SOUL,
WITH ALL YOUR MIND,
AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH.
This is the
second commandment:
YOU SHALL LOVE
YOUR NEIGHBOR AS
YOURSELF.
There
is no greater commandment
than these.
