Fifth Sunday of Lent

OUR APPROACH TO GOD
Prelude
Introit “Lead Me Lord” S. Wesley

Welcome

Call to Worship: Psalm 107
Some wandered in desert wastes, finding no way; hungry and thirsty their souls fainted within them.

THEN THEY CRIED TO THE LORD AND GOD DELIVERED THEM;
God led them by a straight way:
LET US THEN THANK THE LORD FOR GOD’S STEADFAST LOVE,
For God’s wonderful works to humankind:
FOR GOD SATISFIES THE THIRSTY & THE HUNGRY GOD FILLS WITH GOOD THINGS.

*Hymn 183 “Beneath the Cross of Jesus”

Let us be before our God in silence.

Unison Prayer: Psalm 63 GOD, MY GOD, YOU I CRAVE; MY SOUL THIRSTS FOR YOU, MY BODY ACHES FOR YOU LIKE A DRY AND WEARY LAND. LET ME GAZE ON YOU IN YOUR TEMPLE: A VISION OF STRENGTH AND GLORY. YOUR LOVE IS BETTER THAN LIFE, MY SPEECH IS FULL OF PRAISE. I GIVE YOU A LIFETIME OF WORSHIP, MY HANDS RAISED IN YOUR NAME. I FEAST AT A RICH TABLE, MY LIPS SING OF YOUR GLORY. ON MY BED I LIE AWAKE, YOUR MEMORY FILLS THE NIGHT. YES, I CLING TO YOU, YOUR RIGHT HAND HOLDS ME FAST.

Women of Valor Sunday

OUR APPROACH TO GOD
Prelude
Introit “Be Exalted, O God”

Welcome

Call to Worship: from the 6th chapter of the book of Wisdom
Wisdom is glorious and never fades away.
TO THINK THEREFORE UPON HER IS THE PERFECTION OF WISDOM.
The very true beginning of her is the desire of discipline and the care of discipline is love.
LOVE IS THE KEEPING OF HER LAW AND GIVING HEED UNTO HER LAWS IS THE ASSURANCE OF INCORRUPTION.
And incorruption draws us near to God.

*Hymn “The Abiding Presence”

Let us be before our God in silence.

Unison Prayer: WE OFFER A SPIRIT OF HUMILITY AND CONTRITE HEART BEFORE YOU O WISDOM GOD. WE BID THE BREATH OF YOUR SPIRIT MOVE WITHIN US, THE POWER OF YOUR SPIRIT SURROUND US TO PROTECT AND TO GUARD US, THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF YOUR SPIRIT TO MOVE US TO RIGHT ACTION. AS YOU HOVERED ABOVE THE WATERS IN THE DAY OF CREATION, SO BE WITH US NOW, AS WE JOIN YOU IN CO-CREATING, RENEWING AND HEALING YOUR EARTH AND THE HUMAN FAMILY YOU HAVE MADE AND CALLED YOUR OWN.
