Carol Bechtel to preach at Staten Island church Sept. 21

The Rev. Dr. Carol Bechtel (left photo), president of the RCA General Synod and professor of Old Testament at Western Theological Seminary in Holland, Mich., will preach at the Brighton Heights Reformed Church in Staten Island on Sunday, Sept. 21 at 11 AM. The pastor of Brighton Heights Reformed is the Rev. James Seawood, vice president of General Synod and the second African-American to serve in that position.

Brighton Heights Reformed Church is at 320 St. Mark's Pl. A delegation from New Utrecht Reformed Church will leave in a van at 10:20 AM. Those wishing to attend the service from the Bay Ridge-Bensonhurst area should arrive at the church by that time to join the delegation. Those unable to attend are welcome to remain at New Utrecht Church for a Bible Study led by Rev. Bob Peterson at 11 AM.
