The flowers gracing the sanctuary are given to the glory of God in memory of Tom Lanfranchi by Evelyn and family.
The service this morning is dedicated to all veterans and especially those currently serving our country in this time of war and uncertainty.
We welcome Rev. Melody Meeter to our pulpit. Rev. Meeter is a chaplain at Lenox Hill Hospital and attending church at Old First! She and her family have recently moved to Brooklyn!
Thanksgiving Eve Dinner for Families with AIDS
Every year the people of New Utrecht cook up a delicious Italian style
dinner for about 60 people living with AIDS and their children at Project
Hospitality. Coordinating this year's dinner is Deacon Rose Lood.
We need dishes of pasta, meatballs, salad, bread and dessert!
A van will pick up volunteers at New Utrecht at 5:15 PM on Wednesday, November
27th and we will return to New Utrecht Church by 9 PM. See Rose to let us
know what you can bring. People not able to go on Wednesday can
bring their food on Sunday the 24th! "Those who bless the poor
shall themselves find blessing!" Many thanks to all!
Let the Brightness of this day
Tell of the brightness of Thy glory;
The warmth of the autumn sun
Of Thy enfolding love;
The blue that stretches out into the unknown
Of Thy boundless purity;
Let the wind speak of Thy spirit
Moving among us.
Let the rows of shocks in the field,
The bulding bins in the yards of our farms,
The well-fed cattle in the browning pasture
Speak of Thy goodness to us.
The winds will blow their own
freshness into you,
and the storms their energy,
while cares will drop away from you,
like the leaves of Autumn.
Fall poem by John Muir
No spring nor summer beauty hath
such grace
as I have seen in one autumnal face
Autumn quote by John Donne
Our God is an awesome God,
He reigns from heaven above with wisdom, pow'r and love--
Our God is an awesome God!
Our God! Our God is an awesome God!
Our God is an awesome God!
