9th February 2003

Join us outside for the lowering of the Flag in memory of all departed Scouts and Scouters who served Troop/Pack 20 at New Utrecht Church. Today’s service is dedicated to their memory. The scouts invite us as their guests for a reception in the Parish House at the conclusion of the playing of Taps. Join us!!

The flowers gracing our sanctuary are in memory of the Reverend Martin Paul Luther by Boy Scout Troop 20 & Cub Scout Pack 20.

A Special Welcome to our Scouting Families!

If you do not have a regular place where you feel welcomed to worship on Sunday, we invite you to make New Utrecht your church home. Speak with our pastor after service or sign our guest book and indicate that you would like us to contact you. We welcome you warmly!

The Lighting of Candles
In Remembrance

There are stars whose light reaches the earth only after they themselves have disintegrated. And there ore individuals whose memory lights the world after they have passed from it. These lights shine in the darkest night and illumine for us the path.

---Hannah Senesh

In the rising of the sum and in its going down,
WE REMEMBER THEM.
In the blowing of the wind and in the chill of winter,
WE REMEMBER THEM.
In the opening of buds and in the rebirth of spring,
WE REMEMBER THEM.
In the blueness of the sky and in the warmth of summer,
WE REMEMBER THEM.
In the rustling of leaves and in the beauty of autumn,
WE REMEMBER THEM.
In the beginning of the year and when it ends,
WE REMEMBER THEM.
When we are weary and in need of strength,
WE REMEMBER THEM.
When we are lost and sick at heart,
WE REMEMBER THEM.
When we have joys we yearn to share,
WE REMEMBER THEM.
So long as we live, they too shall live,
For they are a part of us,
FOR WE REMEMBER THEM.

-Roland B. Gittlesohn (adapted)
