July 2003
We
welcome to the pulpit this month three preachers who have already made
their mark at New Utrecht!
Rev. Daryl Vetter,
a pastor of Lakeland
Reformed Church in Vicksburg, Michigan, filled our pulpit last May.
He, his wife, Glenda, and members of his congregation return again this
year to give their time in service to Project Hospitality.
They
will also be helping us care for the cemetery. No better way to
celebrate our nation's birth than to care for the heroes of the
Revolutionary War which allows us to celebrate today as a free and
independent nation!
Rev. Bob Peterson,
our organist and pastor of Prospect Park Baptist Church, shares his
preaching talent as well as his music with us on July 13th.
Rev. John Magisano,
assistant pastor of the Metropolitan
Community Church of Hartford, Conn. and a son of the Middle Collegiate Church, will
be with us again for July 20th & 27th. John is also Director of
Collaboration for the New
York AIDS Coalition.
A
New Way to Gather in the Late Days of Summer
In August, we will host special
bible study and informal prayer time together Sundays, 11 AM in the
Sanctuary.
Bible Study will be led on August 3rd, 24th & 31st by Bette Johnson Sohm,
licensed preacher in the Methodist Church
and member of Faith United
Methodist Church, Staten Island.
Bible Study will be led on August 10th & 17th by Fr. Jack Ryan,
Director of Development for Project
Hospitality and Former Director of Mount Manresa Retreat House.
Bring your bibles! Prepare to be amazed! Have a blest summer!
Our day laborer feeding ministry
continues through the summer. Volunteers are needed on July 13th &
27th and August 10th & 24th to butter rolls! Please stay after
service those days to help feed the hungry!
I (Rev. Terry Troia) will be studying at the University of California, Los Angeles.
In the event of emergency,
please contact
Deacon Rose Lood at 1-718-745-1269. See you in September! Be
safe
& happy!
